About
- January 1st, 2010
We create tools for musical creativity and expression. Designed with passion. Built without compromise.
Our philosophy is that design is the key differentiator that makes our guitars unique and interesting. We always strive to create original designs that are based firmly on sound design principles of Unity, Balance, Harmony, Contrast, Rhythm and Proportion.
Style and Utility. Form and Function.
There’s a reason why some guitar designs have endured through the decades: They just work. We cannot help but be influenced and inspired by some of the great design and engineering that helped shape the instrument into what it is today. It’s the brilliance of Leo Fender, Ned Steinberger, Ken Parker and many others that sparked our own passion and curiosity. While you may see some of influential elements of other instruments in our own design, you won’t see us making direct copies of anyone else’s work. We will always seek to apply our own thought process to everything we do, to create something different. Hopefully something better.
In addition to design, our research has also extended to the woods, construction, hardware and electronics that go into every instrument we make. We like to experiment and push boundaries. We’ll try just about anything. But ultimately, all of these elements must work in perfect unison to create an instrument that speaks not only in its own voice, but in that of its player.
As a company, we shall always strive to be open, honest and completely transparent. We don’t like hearing bullshit, so we try not to shovel it. We will not promise what we cannot deliver. And if anything is wrong, we will do our very best to make it right.
Decibel Guitars is the product of over 20 years of research, design and development. We are based in the Toronto area. We make great guitars. We hope you like them.

Darren – this venture is amazing! What a fantastic change of focus for you. Love love love your designs, and applaud you for making this happen.
Thanks, Julia!
It’s not quite there yet as a full-time venture, but it’s definitely fulfilling (at least in a small way for now) a dream i’ve had for the last 20 years.
