Inspired by timeless solid-body electric guitar designs, but with a twist, the Javelin is our modern offset double-cutaway model. Deep cutaways and the ergonomically arched body produce superb comfort and playability, and its unique contours give a distinctive appearance.
Some people prefer the look and feel of a single-cutaway design. The AMX is based on the Javelin, but with one fewer cutaway.
Future models and concepts
The following are designs that are still under consideration or in the prototyping phase. They may or may not be available as part of the regular Decibel line. If they receive enough interest, that will help things along… leave comments below.
For the player who prefers a slightly wider single-cutaway body style, we present the Cutlass. Sleek and modern, with only a slight hint to traditional guitar design, it’s for the player who appreciates something different. Our core principles of comfort and playability still apply.
The Aviator is a re-thinking of the V-type guitar, with the aim of addressing the balance and ergonomic issues that make V-type guitars less appealing to some players. The body is offset to improve balance, and carved to improve player comfort.
The Stealth is our aggressively modern V body style. Deep bevels contribute to player comfort, but also make the guitar look much more menacing. They also contribute to a greatly reduced radar cross-section. Available in any colour you want, as long as it’s black.

I’d like an Aviator in black and red. Please email me with pricing information. Regards M.
Hey, Mike
We’re not yet taking orders, and pricing hasn’t been set, but we’ll let you know. Keep an eye on this space!

The Javelin looks pretty sick man!
Thanks, Sage!
Hello How much the javelin runs for?
I think you need to start on those V things lol
Stealth is my dream guitar, looks exactly the same (strange …) as I wanted to have my guitar. Poor to know that I already know that can not buy it when its done…
Thanks for the comments, everyone!
Most of the feedback i’ve been getting has been on the Javelin and AMX, so that’s where i’m focusing my energies right now, other than the first Aviator prototype.
Introductory pricing for base models with plain woods will be below $2000 and go up from there based on upgrades.
How thick is the neck of the Javelin 7 in comparison to, say, other Ibanez 7 string prestiges? These babies look fine as hell!
The Javelin #dB1 is approximately 19.5 mm at the first fret and 20.5 mm at the 12th fret. I’m thinking of switching truss rod suppliers, which will give me another millimetre or two to play with, so it could be made thinner, but as it is, the neck on dB1 is just about perfect. The neck on Proto 1 is slightly thicker, but i don’t have dimensions on it right now.
how much does a db1 cost

OOf the AMX Please! will these be available in England?
It’s my plan to ship worldwide.
They’ll be shipped worldwide.
(Buyer pays shipping costs.)
Would you consider making an 8 string? I’m most interested in the cutlass model with a mixed scale. If so, I’ll go ahead and grab a wait ticket (I’m located in Toronto too).
I guess i should work out the details of the Cutlass, huh?
8-strings will definitely be an option, as will multi-scale.
Absolutely! Loving the shape, already grabbed a ticket too haha. Definitely looking forward to it.
Mate, kudos to chasing your dreams – I have always found inspiration and fascination from talented and creative luthiers such as yourself. I tried it in school, and quickly found how much time was needed – too much for me to allow!
I was just wondering if you have ever thought about extending your line to/creating any custom bass guitars? I’ve got a 6-string Cort and while it’s lovely to play, I go weak at the knees wondering how much better my experience could be with a custom made individual guitar, for example a Javelin bass.
While I wouldn’t consider it for at least a couple of years, I’d love to think that I could travel out to meet you (all the way from Australia!) and collaborate with you to make me the perfect 6-string bass.
Thanks for the kind words, Mickey! Basses are definitely in the plan, but i’m focused on guitars for the time being. By the time you’re ready to start looking, i should hopefully be ready to start building them.
Cheers,
darren.
Wicked, absolutely wicked! I’ll start counting down the hours
That AMX looks absolutely incredible!
Wow!your work is amazing and im really diggin that stealth X! but i got a question, are you in consideration of makin any left handed models in the near future?
Thanks for the comment! Yes, my first lefty build will be happening this fall. Customer #1 on the waiting list is left-handed, so that’ll be my trial-by-fire.
Wow, your work is amazing. I came here out of interest after hearing Misha talking about these and honestly, they look way better than the other custom guitars that he mentions such as Bernie Ricos and Viks!
I was wondering if you allow custom woods for necks and bodies because I love basswood and am wondering if you are offering that as an option?
Now I need to fatten up my hungry wallet a lil
Thanks, Vince! The customer can choose the woods they want. I try to guide people through the decision-making process if they need help, but for people who know what they want, i’ll only advise against things that i think won’t work very well from a sonic, aesthetic or structural standpoint. I’ll also generally try to steer people away from the endangered, rare or restricted species.
I like your work! I’m sure you’ve gotten a lot of this but maybe someday you could make a Stealth x in a bass! Best of luck to you in your future plans and happy holidays!
How can I get one ?
At the moment, the waiting list is closed, but i’m hoping to do some short runs of “production” instruments while i work through customer orders.
The Stealth X looks like exactly the compromise of badass aesthetics to playability I always desire in my guitars. Hope to see it on the production line soon
I love the cutlass. Is it still just a maybe or are you currently a go for making them. Also, any idea when the wait list will reopen?
The Cutlass remains a work in progress, and in some ways has been superseded by the AMX.
As to when the list will re-open, that depends on how quickly i can whittle it down to a manageable number. The tradeoff is having lots of people waiting with a high number on the list vs. having people waiting to get ON the list. I closed it when it got to 100 names, because having a three-digit waiting list number is a tough psychological barrier to cross, for buyers AND for me!
Yeah I bet! I suppose there will be an update on the twitter feed or to this website when that happens? Is there a mailing list or something I can sign up on?
